Jyamma Games’ upcoming action RPG, Enotria: The Last Song, has faced an indefinite delay on Xbox, due to a breakdown in communication with Microsoft during the game’s certification process. Despite being set to launch on PC and PlayStation 5 on September 19, 2024, the Xbox version has been left in limbo, frustrating fans of the Soulslike title.
The delay was initially announced by Jyamma Games’ CEO, Giacomo Greco, who revealed the studio had not received any response from Microsoft for two months regarding the certification of the Xbox version. As a result, the developers were left with no choice but to delay the Xbox launch. Greco expressed his frustration, noting the studio had already spent considerable resources to optimize the game for Xbox Series X and S. According to the developers, Enotria runs “better than expected” on Series S and performs very well on Series X, but they were unable to proceed with the final submission process without Microsoft’s response.
However, in a more recent update on Discord, Greco confirmed that Microsoft had reached out to apologize for the situation. The CEO shared, “They [Microsoft] contacted us and said sorry about the situation, we’re trying to solve everything as soon as possible.” Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, personally stepped in to help resolve the issue, and Jyamma Games expressed their gratitude for the swift intervention.
The developers are now collaborating closely with Microsoft to expedite the game’s release on Xbox. However, there is still no confirmed launch date for the Xbox version, though the PC and PS5 releases remain on schedule for September.
This delay is not an isolated case, as other studios, such as Larian Studios with Baldur’s Gate 3, have faced similar challenges in releasing games on Xbox due to optimization and certification hurdles, particularly with the Series S console.
As fans await further news, the developers remain committed to delivering the best possible experience across all platforms.
